Shockingly, according to @thefuturelaboratory, an estimated 90.5% of the plastic waste we as consumers produce, has never been recycled. A PACKAGING PROBLEM
Each year, the global beauty industry produces more than 120 billion units of packaging, most of which are not recyclable. One of our primary focuses here, at Medik8, is to massively increase the use of recycled materials (and promote reuse – exciting product news soon!) as environmental welfare is a cause close to our hearts and we do not want to see this alarming figure increase.

POST CONSUMER RECYCLED PLASTIC PROJECT
We have a plan. We've started with our professional range. Since September 2019, EVERY professional Medik8 product (using a plastic bottle) has been made from 100% Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) material. This means we are using plastic derived from former drinks bottles that would otherwise have just gone to landfill; taking centuries to degrade.

FUTURE GOALS
One of our initiatives for a more sustainable future is to swap PCR to ocean plastics for our packaging. This still means reusing plastic materials but those found in rivers and seas to make our tubes. Wherever we can implement eco-friendly packaging, we will try.
