£25,000 TO LAUNCH THE ZIPPER FOUNDATION. Many of you will know that our office dog and friend Zipper passed away recently and today we are announcing the launch of our official Medik8 charity (in his name) to support the causes we care about (more info on www.medik8.com.cy/zipper).

TODAY 200 DOGS’ LIVES SAVED
Our first project, in memoriam, was a £10,000 donation to Humane Society International – www.hsi.org, to save nearly 200 dogs, literally from death row after they worked with a farmer to close a dog farm in South Korea. As part of the agreement, the farm will never work with animals again. Zipper’s last act will be to save some fellow dogs from the barbaric dog meat trade.

HOW OUR £10,000 WILL BE SPENT
Today’s cheque will pay for food, supplies, boarding costs, medical and behavioural treatment for all of the 200 dogs being rescued from a dog meat farm.

THE HISTORIC FARM CLOSURE
The South Korean dog meat farm is situated around 2 hours outside of Seoul, and alternates between dog meat farming and puppy milling. The conditions the dogs live in are nothing short of horrific. Barren cages, lack of appropriate food and water, emaciated dogs and little to no protection from brutal winter conditions. We are so proud of our involvement in this powerful closure and hope it’s a huge leap forward in the battle against the barbaric dog meat trade.

NEXT PROJECTS
In 2018/19 we have a further £15,000 to spend. This budget will be distributed to charitable projects in 4 areas; Animal, Rainforest, Ocean and Mind. Each year we will donate a minimum of £15,000.
